I am working with a model for a mash up photo shoot competition for Austin Fashion Week, Savannah Gabrielle, who is also working with Butterfly Entertainment, a modeling agency in Austin. The 2014 Bridal Expo had a fashion for for the bridal gowns provided by Signature Bridal Salon and Savannah was one of the models. I also know a few of the other girls that were in the fashion show. This was another opportunity to use the lovable Fujiflm XM-1 with the fast XF35mm f1.4 lens. I also used the 18-55mm lens but had mixed results with focusing. The lighting was not very bright in the room which had very high ceilings with flourescent lighting, YUK. So, here's where I noticed the camera to really excel, with its auto white-balance and EXR-II processing.
And, I shoot jpeg !
Savannah recently joined Butterfly Entertainment Modeling Agency and we are adding images to her growing portfolio. We chose the San Gabriel River Hike n Bike Trail in Georgetown for our outdoor setting and finally, the Georgetown Airport for stylized theme photoshoot. The weather was cool and it was a partly cloudy day, which means, the sunlight was occasionally changing. There was a location along the way that featured a wall of limestone. Here only ambient light was used. In other areas where the sunlight was visible I used a speedlight to offset shadows in her portrait. It was good experience for handling the lighting conditions to bring out the best features of Savannah. All other adjustments and editing were done in Adobe Lightroom.
